      Cool T5 Wiring Help

      Sooo...

I have this old 18" setup... and I am replacing all of the ballasts... there are 3(2 bulbs each), I am thinking of going with new ballasts that I can do 3 bulbs each.

I decided I should replace the sockets as well...

A brief search on the interwebs turned up a bunch of sockets, but none that looked like they would fit with my setup.

The ones in the system now have the following writing on them:

      T140 VS
      6824 409
      16
      2/500
      120W
      600V

So I am guessing 120 watts 600 volts... cuz I is smarts. The rest is maybe some model or serial maybe that some nice electrical type person might recognize and say yeah... I remember those... you can use this instead...

If not... I have posted pics of the set up and would welcome and thoughts or ideas about reconfiguring or replacing that won't cost me more than just buying a new fixture.

Thanks for any and all help!

      Pics are below as well...

      This is the housing:

This is a one of the sockets I would like to replace:

See how the mounting is on the back plate of the socket as opposed to the bottom which is how most of the sockets that I see on the web are...

      Help!

If you are still looking for sockets, these look pretty close:

In case you didn't know, Current is here in San Diego if you run into trouble or have questions for them.

      Thanks again!

      OK... next question...

So I ordered these sockets yesterday and they arrived today! Yea! Thanks Current.

Edit-(I should note that the current wiring is completely different. Each bulb has 1 red lead and return to the ballast, as well as 1 yellow lead and return.)

I am trying to rewire this lamp using 2 of the ballasts below:

      WH3-120-L Workhorse 3

      I have the diagram below:

Am I correct in thinking I can loop 3 of these sockets to themselves... run 1 red lead into the first, link that to the second, the second to the 3rd and place the second red lead from the ballast on to the 3rd?

Then just loop and link the yellow lead to each as well with no return?

      Is that how it works?

From what I am seeing it looks like your correct. Does that ballast only power 2 bulbs because I only see 2 red wires?

Says it can power 3 when I ordered... from the image it looks like you just daisy chain em? 1 on the front and one on the end. Supposed to be enough to power 3 24 watts and I am planning to use it on 3 18 watts.

That ballast pictured looks like a workhorse 3
It will only support 2 T5 HO bulbs.
Use this diagram to wire it: http://www.fulham.com/WDpdf/wire1.pdf

That is exactly what I was looking at. According to the wire diagram you need a red wire coming from the ballast for every bulb that you are connecting to the circuit.
