(I'm probably past due for creating some sort of tank thread)
Last year, I started back into saltwater keeping after a quick escalating addiction from freshwater fish. I soon found myself combating nitrate and phosphate levels that would never go down to acceptable levels. Needless to say, I had numerous algae problems.
Shortly after 2015 started, I started using Scripps water instead of making my own and found myself with a much better looking tank (although void of fish and coral). I later found out that the water I was using had traces of nitrate and phosphates, effectively dosing my tank with nitrate and phosphate without knowing it.
After a month of weekly water changes, here's a picture of the tank today.
It's not much, but it is a much healthier tank now. In time, I'll need to get a better light and skimmer.
