      Good Camping Locations

      Hey SDR,

Me and the wife want to go camping, looking for somewhere maybe 1-2 hours away in a forest location, not desert or beach. Any advice or recommendations?

      Thanks!

      Marc

Lake morena, lake cuyamaca, there are a couple camp grounds by cuyamaca lake. I live in campo 15 min from cuyamaca and go there on a regular basis for day trips.

San Gorgonio Mountain. You'll have to hike in but the camping is amazing

Lake morena is open but as bogg stated the lake is very low. Paso picaho (probably spelled wrong) is great camping with shade trees in almost all camp sites. That is where I go to camp. Then drive/hike to cuyamaca to fish or kayak.

Big Sur, its more than a couple hours away. its not desert, although it is close to the beach, but it is defiantly forest. Check out Fernwood in Big Sur. It is worth the drive. The redwoods are amazing.
