What type of Arowana? Normal amazonian silver ones are easy to find at the local Petco or Pet Kingdom...
The Aussie Jardini is a little difficult to get and more expensive but I am sure you can order one...

my neighbor has a 600g with some sort of extreme arowana that looks like that. He had to get papars and all sorts of crazy stuff for it. It'll eat anything, feeds it mice sometimes. He also has a gold arowana in a 240g in his kitchen. I'm not real into freshwater but those things are badA

You are absolutely correct Bret, Asian Arowanas are under the engendered species list and each one that is brought out of South East Asia has to be microchip and identified. I use to know the old owners of Pet Zone and she got caught having an illegal specimen, not only did they confiscate it, the fine was crazy!!! Oh the headaches of owning exotic animals

Correct me if I am wrong, if you have a degree in zoology or some sort, you are allowed to have them...Or be a drug cartel and you can have a zoo of your own...LOL
These fishes are really awesome and I thought they were upgraded to "threatened species"?

I dropped off a Clown fish in City Heights for a fellow member, his parents owns a tofu place on University Ave near the 7/11. Go get some tofu and you can check out his OG's setup, they have two reds and one gold with some gorgeous Discus and other tropical fishes. I asked where he acquired them and he said in China Town up in La, I guess $10k can buy you a decent quality Red Chile

Unless he's got really good papers Brett I wouldn't put out your address any time soon. US Fish and Wildlife is all over busting people for Asian Arowanas. Not sure why they chose to enforce it so strictly all of a sudden but they confiscated 9 from a local a couple years ago.
