      Apex wireless

So I got my apex to work with a cat5, but when I connect it to a wireless adapter, my computer doesn't recognize it.

What are the steps to getting it to work?

Which adapter and what are you trying to connect the adapter to, I had the same problem trying to connect a Linksys WGA54GA to Verizon Fios and could not do it so I went and bought a netgear wireless extender with 4 ports at best buy and it works great.

Are you sure that the IOgear is actually connected to your router using WiFi? On the IOgear, is the WLAN light flashing?

I went out a bought two items for this. The first one was the WNCE3001 and the second was the WNCE2001. The first one would keep dropping connection to the router and would need to be reconnected using the computer. This left me in kahoots this weekend when I was in LA and unable to watch the new ai sol blues I hooked up. Got back and went a picked up the WNCE2001. It has performed without flaw thus far.
Important to disable DHCP on the Apex and give it a static address.

There were some things going around reef central about the 2wire routers with AT&T uverse, I will see if I can find them, they may have the issues fixed and you just need to look at the thread.

They Apex comes from the factory with the IP address as DHCP and your router will assign the IP address to the APEX when you connect it to the Router. You do not want this with the APEX because you will have to set a rule in your router to port forward any port request to the APEX. if you reboot the APEX at any time then the router can give it any IP that it wants to. Under the network settings on the APEX set it to DHCP Disabled and give it an IP in the range that your router is on.

thanks for the help guys. but i spent way too much time trying to figure this out... i decided to go old school and return the wireless adapter and get 100 ft of cat5.

      save $20 doing it.

Once you get the wifi to eithernet adaptor connected, and your apex connected to that, your apex will be assigned an IP. To get this, use the apex controller and got to Configuration > Network Setup. Here is where you can see your IP and also change DHCP to off.
