      possible OD with Vodka help!!

      Posting on behalf of a friend of mine..She has a 14 nano AIO..Frined of hers was suppose to dose .03 ml of vodka but dosed .3 after a few hours the tank got super cloudy and has a sort of sweet smell to it?!..Guessing the mucus layer of everything is stripped or ???..she already did a 5g WC..and we're getting mixed answers on google as far as what to do?..change more water..leave it be...lights on lights off?..skimm it..leave slimmer off?..Haven't tested water yet for any ammo spikes or any test at all for that matter except for SG which is at .025..HELP!!!...Tia reefers!!

      oh yeah?!!..dammit totally forgot about carbon??...thanks big!!..any other suggestions?

      Change more water, leave skimmer and carbon on.

      sweet I'm gonna let her use my hob skimmer from my 34 for a few hours..Would that be overkill for a 14?..lol

      A vodka overdose will cause a bacterial bloom (likely the cause of the "cloudy" water). This can suck the oxygen out of the water, and perhaps smother corals if really bad. That's pretty much it. Adding vodka has nothing to do directly with phosphate.

      You should keep the skimmer running, and be aware it will probably overflow due to the bacteria it's pulling out of the water. So empty the cup frequently. While running carbon won't hurt, I doubt it will do much, except to maybe pull out some of the bacterial die off once it happens. Also be aware that your carbon will clog easily during a bacterial bloom.

      or put an air pump air stone temporarily just to keep water oxygenated.
