Sailing Video / GoPro

Still learning how to best use my GoPro...took it out this past Saturday sailing. We had two races, San Diego Bay. CRA Halloween regatta. These are short cuts from Race #2

The start. We have a 10 minute count down and then we head towards the starting line with the objective to get there at zero time (race start). Of course there are 12 other boats doing the same thing. This particular race is a downwind start, meaning the wind is at our side or behind us. In this instance we have rights and there are two boats trying to push us over the starting line, we have to jump up and vocalize along with all the other fun "stuff" that goes on...





First Race, first Gybe (Turn downwind on the racecourse)...




Later in the race we duck another boat crossing our path...first of many...

Very interesting to someone who has never been sailing. Looks like fun.

The tactition is French... Earlier in video 2 the Captain says get the "Spee" ready (Spiniker, large puffy sail)...in a few seconds/minutes later the tactition yells for SPEED as we are trying to get to the starting line. The crew hears SPEE... Then the two boats come up and try to push us over the line.

Funny stuff.....
