v1.0 Dream Chip: Group Buy #2 (50 LED version. 100 LED version)

This group buy is dedicated to all those that missed out on the first Dream Chip group buy.

If you are interested, please PM me your name (first/last) and paypal email address and qty. I will then put you on the buy list.

      Basic Dream Chip LED configuration:

      100 LED Dream Chip:
      1) 20 x 10000K
      2) 20 x 455nm (blue, beneficial to chlorophyll C)
      3) 10 x 420nm, 10 x 430nm (UV range)
      4) 20 x 445nm (blue, beneficial to chlorophyll C)
      5) 20 x 15000K

      50 LED Dream Chip:
      1) 10 x 10000K
      2) 10 x 455nm (blue, beneficial to chlorophyll C)
      3) 5 x 420nm, 5 x 430nm (UV range)
      4) 10 x 445nm (blue, beneficial to chlorophyll C)
      5) 10 x 15000K

As a group, we can choose one or the other. Not both. We can let the group drive which path to take.
50 LED version, or the 100 LED version. If the group buy surpasses 100 pcs total, we can consider both versions.

50 LED Dream Chip price is USD63.82 if we can generate support for at least 50pcs.
100 LED Dream Chip price is USD124.64 if we can generate support for at least 50pcs.

Please do not message AC-RC directly via eBay. Your message will go unanswered as it violates
eBay and vendor terms of agreement.

Please, serious buyers only. When the time comes to pay, payment must be executed immediately. If you cannot commit,
refrain from requesting your addition to the buy list. Pulling out at the last minute could jeopardize the group buy. Especially,
if we barely meet the 50pc buy minimum. The holidays are around the corner, and the budget tightens. Fiscal forethought is
required before committing to this group buy.

Again, if you are interested, please PM me your name (first/last) and paypal email address and qty. I will then put you on the buy list.

      Thanks,

      Ron

      Wrang,

The 50LED can be 50W. The lens fit will be the same as for the 100LED Dream Chip.

      Hey Ron,

Those 50 led versions caught my interest! What is the forward voltage of these babies?

      Best,

      Esben

A lot of information can be found in the links found in the second post of this thread.

The information below was found in the first Dream Chip Group buy thread:
      http://www.sandiegoreefs.com/forums/...112#post759112

The information below is for the 100 LED Dream chip version but FV should be about the same.

The FV will be 30-36 V - the actinic channel (420 - 430 nm) in the upper part Max current 700 mA/channel (10 LED) nominal current 350 mA/channel

Ah, I see. I was hoping for an FV of about 18V, because that would allow me to connect two or three chips in serial for an FV of 36V or 54V, saving drivers. Seems that 72V and 108V drivers are not very common though

I'm not very keen on doing a parallel connection, because it is a more complicated setup, and you might run into problems with thermal runaway when the strings are not thermally coupled. See http://ledsmagazine.com/features/6/2/2 for a more thorough explanation.

Did anyone try to hook a couple of multichips in parallel and watch the current on each string?

      Best,
      Esben

A lot of people is going to do just that -channel1 chip 1 and cannel 1 chip 2 in parallel - just to save drivers. We will have the result soon The good thing is that you can run a channel at max 1400 mA - nominal for 100 watt is 700 mA. The people planning to run 2 or more channels (chips) in parallell will probably run at 900 - 1000 mA - making a space for some variations without burning up any channel. A fast fuse in serie with each channel is also a wise idea. Thank you for the link.

      Sincerely Lasse
