V - I have the MC-RODI-180-10 and it's awesome - TDS 0 - love the dual TDS readers on it. Even for a non-technical guy it was easy for me to set up and get running.

That's what I like to hear. It gets here in a few day and I also got a dual tds meter for it. How long to the membranes usually last?

I'm pretty sure that I've been using mine for at least 6 months now and still getting 0 TDS.

From experience, worst thing I ever did was have an RODI unit outside....algae would grow in the chambers so you'd have to replace the membranes often. I have mine in the house now as we have a sink in the laundry room. No more algae issues so would imagine I'll probably get a year out of the membranes and I use the unit often.

EDIT: actually I mean the filters, not the membrane. Not sure on the life expectancy of the actual membrane.

Spectrapure is what I wish I would have bought, but my filterguys is ok too.
I'm told membrane should be changed at a year, cartridges at about 6mo, though those can vary depending on several factors.
Either way you are going to be stoked on that unit!

Nice. I sort of bought it on a impulse before going to sleep lol. It looked like a good unit. I'm going to gabber it mounted in my garage. You think I'll still get that algea growth in the filters?

That was a good impulse buy for sure.
Direct sunlight is the only issue, so most likely no big, but you could even cover the canisters w/ paper/plastic bags, socks, or something if you thought light was hitting it.

Membrane life is affected by maintainence and use. Defintily use it as little as you can. Meaning make one large batch instead of several smaller batches and always flush membrane before each use. I've got over a years use on my rodi from BRS. I usually make up to 200 gal of water at a time. Still get 0 tds. Usually get around 6-8 tds after membrane and 0 after DI. I measure tds after membrane to make sure membrane is still filtering properly. Mine is supposed to be 98%. So with a tds of 400ish. I get anywhere from 6-8 tds after membrane.
