OK, I know the consensus on the Marinland DoubleBright LED's is that they are a low cost solution for FW planted or FO tanks but otherwise trash for a real reef. Has anyone here actually used these in a system that has corals (low light, softies, etc)? I am in the planning stages of a project for a 36" long shallow tank (Mr. Aqua) that I was setting up mostly for FO, but having a few low light corals and maybe a single "Flagship" LPS. Given the shallow depth of the tank, I am just trying to figure out if these would be effective or if I should go with either a DIY LED strip, or possibly stick w/ t5ho. I did briefly look at the Marineland "Reef Capable" fixture but I feel that may be overkill for the shallow depth (<9") and for the price of one of those, I could DIY a much better fixture with custom optics, and color mixes...
Thanks SDR.
