After soaking the pellets and frozen mysis in garlic guard for 20 min I would feed. The tang was eating everything. For several days it would have spots only when the lights came on. Today will be one week of galic guard and no spots this morning. The tang never once lost its appetite. I blame the ick on myself. I added way to many fish at once and it stressed it out. All stable now. Good luck with your tang, keep it eating.

      Ich

Should I be concerned if its not eating nori at all or will she be fine with just picking algae off the rocks?

I am surprised no one has mentioned the " cocktail " ???

I have used this " cocktail " every time I get ICH with great success , and keep it on-hand at all times !!!

      You'll need

      Seachem Focus
      Seachem Metronidazole
      Seachem Garlic Gaurd
      Frozen Mysis shrimp
      Brine shrimp net

Thaw out the Mysis in RO water , then strain out all the water using the net until it becomes shrimp paste ! Then soak the shrimp in 1 part Focus ( as directed ) , 1 part Metro ( as directed ) , and Garlic Gaurd for at least a few hours . Then FEED several times a day , It will be ok for other fish / inverts to eat !

You can try the Cleaner Wrasse but they don't last long ! IMO all tanks should have a UV sterilizer , and cleaner shrimp , but those are not proven methods for curing ICH . You should be able to find all of the products mentioned at any local fish store , I've always got it at AW .

      Ich

Well sad to say but my tang passed away this morning. She was doing great. Eating like a pig and swimming around really healthy. Yesterday before I went to sleep she seemed fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but this morning I saw her laying on the ground not moving or breathing. I'm just gonna take this as an opportunity to kill what ich is still living in the tank. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Sorry to hear about your tang. Been there so know the feeling. Just give your tank some time and you should be able to add a tang later down the road.

      Ich

Thanks guys. Ya I was pretty hopeful about her getting through it but I guess it was too much for her. So now I wanna kill off the rest of the ich in the tank. What's the best way to do that?

Best way to make sure ich is gone is NO fish in tank for 6-8 weeks.

      Ich

Well I took the remainder of my fish out Sunday. So now I have to just wait till the ich in the tank dies off. Are there any ways to speed up the process and kill off the ich living in the tank quicker than just having no fish for 6-8 weeks? I had to stare at this tank empty for 6 months before I got it running. Another 1-2 months would suck.

Not really, just have to wait it out and the only way to be sure all the ich has died is to wait the time. I wouldn't even risk waiting 6 weeks, I would do the full 8 weeks. Since you have taken the time to take all your fish out you might as well do it right. Now what about the fish that came out of the tank, what is the plan to make sure they don't have ich when you put them back in your display?
