Can anyone point me to a thread or site that helps with ich remedies. I don't have a qt. My tang is starting to show signs of possible ich. I've heard of people feeding with garlic. is it ground raw garlic???? i don't want to make matters worse.... LMK

I use garlic extract. The brand I use is Kyolic and I found it at Sprouts.

I've had ich twice now. Once in my first tank once in this one. old tank pulled all fish, qt'd for 8 weeks and treated with copper. Didn't wanna deal with that this time and bought Kordon Ich Attack. I haven't had any signs of ich in a few weeks now. It's an herbal remedy and reef/invertebrate safe. I think I liked it better because when qt'ing, the fish are so stressed after catching them and their slime coat can also get damaged when using nets. Use the garlic like everyone else said to help entice to eat. Eating is the number 1 thing for the fish to fight it and hopefully make it.

Cupramine copper is the most effective/"guaranteed" way in a qt tank tho. No sand no rock no inverts and DT must be fishless for 6-8 weeks. If fish covered bad, a RO pure water dip for a minute or 2 can help. Hypo salinity is another way you can rid ich. Slowly drop the salinity over the course of a few days down to 1.13-1.10 in your qt

Established in the south east, but now reside in Chula Vista.

Anyone know where I can find some kordon ich attack in the south bay or east county. I'm at work right now(el cajon) and I'm heading home after because my wife is home sick. Tough choice.... Get meds for my sick wife or get meds for my sick fish. What to do what to do????? I'll. All VP or sd aquarium rock... Hopefully they have some.

+1 on offering me the qt. I don't have the space to set up a second tank right now.

Important to disclose the size of your tank when asking questions...

There are some treatments that work pretty well in combination with Guarlic Guard (soak food) and water changes. Search out ICK on this site and you will find tons of posts...

Wow.... Guess that would help. I'm working with a 120 and a 40g sump. Thanks for pointing that out yolo.

OK...120 on the line for what I have dealt with. Example is my 120g cube with a 40 sump and a 20g refugium. I left town for a week plus and forgot to tell my wife to soak the food in Garlic Guard. When I got back, I had a serious ICK infestation. Did not help the tank stressed out due to dysfunctional top off and she dumped the water in here and there...LOL

Purple tang was a white tang. Lost a Picasso and a Klien.

Immediate water change 25 %...started feeding fish food soaked in Garlic Guard by Seachem. Then purchased a bottle of Kick-Ick, by Ruby Reefs (AW has it).

      http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewit...FSI0QgodnnMAcQ

Treated tank for 10 days agressively with that stuff (no skimming) followed by two 25% water changes over a week and we are all back to normal now. Continue to feed food all soaked in Garlic Guard.

All fish OK...did the same thing on my 60 cube before...when I got to a larger system (135 plus) the chemical did not work so well.
