Despite what you have been told ^^^ , you WOULD be able to walk right in ! However , you would not be able to buy anything . Check out Capistrano reef in OC .

I have been to a few really cool lfs in the LA/OC area, two places to check out are Tongs in OC and Vivid Aquariums in LA. I like Tongs a lot because they always got deals, hook it up and the best part is that you can negotiate with them.... Have fun and let us know what you picked up !!!

So you are saying that someone stops you at every location and checks to see if you have an account with them before you walk thru the door ???

There's quite a few... some of them on one street.
But of the places to visit, there are some that are a bit out of the way too.

      Here's some links;
(I removed the direct links - by request of another friend "in the business")

      GOOGLE is your friend.

And, of coarse you can walk right into them. There's nobody stopping you. In one place, you can even pick up a price list... and view the costs of items. However, as noted... You CANNOT purchase anything without an account already setup. For your viewing pleasure only.

You can "walk in" to any wholesale business... they are public places. This goes for anything/anyplace where they have counter sales. The limitation, is you can't buy anything. So what's the point of going... if you can't purchase??

I don't see a lot of people driving to a wholesaler, walking the aisles... just to see what's on the shelf or in the tank, when they can't buy anything. So I don't think this post/thread is really doing any harm to the industry... and if people just want to "window shop", what's the hurt?! Most everyone already knows there's incredible markup for fish/coral anyway.

This is about to become a bad post. This shouldn't be talked about on the form. Looks here it is... There needs to be a separation between whole sellers to buyers. That's why your shouldn't go... Bc people don't like to pay more when they know it's out there for less. This is what causes problems for pet stores and how they go out of business. If u want to go see cool stuff to the the long beach aquarium or any aquarium place.

That's just my thoughts on that...

I bet this thread gets closed or deleted soon lol!

Really? ... The wholesale websites are public, as well as the addresses to the wholesalers.

Why should it be so hush hush?

Yeah it's public but do u not need a login to get on there?...
It's not like it's hush hush people know there out there but it puts stress on the stores bc what's to stop everyone from running up to la seeing real prices and not wanting to pay the prices here... If screws over the Lfs...

I can care less but everyone's trying to make a living and with everyone going behind everyone else back to try and get the best deals, it's messes things up...
This isn't a hobby for the cheap but yet everyone tries to be cheap...

wholesalers are known but the price lists aren't available on the websites without logging in (typically).

      NO... you do not.
A password is required; Only to see a "price list" if they have them on their website. Most do not, and you can only obtain one via email or once you step inside the wholesaler itself.
