Tank needs help things are dying

My polyps are shrinking, looks like something is eating them, my hard corals are turning white, the purple algae on the rocks is going away and its starting to turn white. both of my cleaner shrimps have both disappeared. I am running a 55 gal tank with sump with t5 lighting approx 8hrs of lighting a day. protein skimmer works fine. Some of the corals are doing ok while others are not looking so good.[IMG][/IMG],

Check for copper or any metals. I would do a 60% water change but first identifi what's causing it. Other wise the water change will be a short term fix

Same here, +1 on the water parameters. check your water parameters and post your levels, would make it easier to help you out!

+1 on the salinity. my salinity dropped to .18 and alot of my corals and polyps stayed closed. Do you notice alot of mucas coming from the corals?

What are the water temps?! Meaning, do you have (extreme) temperature swings from day to night?

Where's your water coming from? Ie Scripps, LFS, or mix yourself?
Do you use RODI? Or tap.?

Faulty heaters have been a common cause lately...check temp. Also, salinity measured using a hydrometer instead of a refractometer can be inaccurate as well!

My water temp doesnt really change much it mostly stays between 76-78 degrees. My huge frogspawn was completely demolished i discovered this purple looking stuff on the heads, originally about 15 huge heads with multiple miniature ones growing all over to now only one head remaining. my hammer coral which was close by was not affected at all. The only thing i did different before this occured was a huge water change apprrox 80% and the salinity was a bit on the low side after the change. I use scripps water but its a bit salty so I add RO water to it. and my zoa's are being eaten away by something i have no idea what is eating them

Sorry to hear of your problems!

To give you the best help possible, it would be helpful to know a few parameters:

      - Ammonia
      - Nitrite
      - Nitrate
      - PH
      - Salinity
      - Alkalinity
      - Temperature

If I had to guess, I would guess that your PH, salinity, or Alkalinity is off -- not disastrous enough to kill everything off in one day, but bad enough to severely stress everything and kill them off over a few days / weeks.

As far your zoas, research "zooanthid eating nudibranches."

Also one more question, before I started this 55 gal i was going with a 20 gal tank with coralife t5 lighting, everything started growing like crazy after i did a complete water change and new sand bed. since i switched to the 55 gal nothing seems to be growing at all just steadily maintaining same size

MANY factors contribute to growth-rate of corals...lighting, flow, water-quality, additives you may be adding, etc...
