Nice. I really like what you got going on here. I have the ecoxotic canons on my display but no where near the color mixing capability these have. Par test? Update?
Thanks!
The Ecoxotics are what got me started on using pendants in the first place. They are nice lights... just pricey, and you need more then one to get two colors (white/blue). Once I found out more of how they work and what Orphek was using... I decided to build/design my own. AND AM SO Happy I did!! Thus far, the easiest light to deal with ... no issues ... and gives great color, growth, and shimmer.
One thing about using Ecoxotics is you have two distinct light sources. So, your shimmer looks a bit odd. Hard to explain, but you get blue and white reflections in the sand bed and to me it just doesn't look natural.
I've got a par meter, and a lux meter. But haven't tested these yet. I will someday... but, only to compare them to the old LED fixtures (112x1W, 40x3W or 55x3W) I had over the tank. You can't accurately test LEDs with PAR or LUX meters, which also isn't a fair comparison against something like... metal halides. It's more a LED vs LED comparison.
So far, everyone that sees the tank in person compliments on the lighting. Mostly about it's shimmer and then about the color.
