I've been busy with work as its pool season
I have decided to switch out the halide Phoenix 14k with an older 12k reflux I think there's something wrong with this current bulb I'm running everything looks bad on the halide side like brown outs and a few rtns maybe too intense?
but all is well on the led side I'll pop some pics later but for now the LEDs are doing a great job and are super pleasing to my eyes, I've had some algae issues with the new frag tank setup being new and all so time will tell It's still kinda early in this setup to determine anything.

      MH vs. LED

      Ryan,
I took off my metal halide (2 x 250 watt) and replaced them with 6 54 watt T5's. I'm a little disappointed with the results (but saves on electricity) and have decided to add some supplemental lighting. I am adding two Par 38 bulbs (10 blue bulbs @ 3 watts each with 2 UV bulbs) to enhance the Par. When you state everything looks good on the LED side I am wondering about growth and color. What are the results so far? I do want this set-up to work and hoping these bulbs will have a positive impact on my SPS.

So many ways to go about it as far as light fixtures it gives me a headache lol, i guess only by giving one or the other type of fixture a chance in our aquariums we would be able to realy see for ourselfs what does what for our corals. Personaly ive had pc fixtures, t5 fixtures and mh fixtures and ive had awsome growth on lps with pc fixtures and this was 4 years ago also gave t5 a chance and i saw nicer color good growth also lps, i did mh and noticed not such nice color high electicity bill and over heated my tank. i changed back to a 8 bulb t5 fixture now im beggining to keep sum deep water sps and will see how it goes ive never done sps but ima give it a try. it all comes down to personal preference as how "we " want the coral to look but what does the coral itself need.. I will do leds sum day. Once again this is just me
