      Led switch

I am toying with the idea of switching from a 120 watt led unit to a couple of par 38 bulbs over my 24x24 50 gal cube. The reason is to increase shimmer and decrease light spillover in my living room. My questions are:
      1. Will this be enough light to support my sps and clams
      2. Do you think 2 will be enough to provide adequate coverage (tank is 24x24)

Any input either positive or negative would be welcome. If I make the move, my 120 non dim able LED purchased 6 months ago from Dom Michael will be up for sale.
      Thanks

whys this under livestock haha, but I use a par30 (I think) over my 5 gallon pico and its almost not enough lighting. So im not sure if only two would be enough. but ive never had the experience with them,

its all good. If I were to try this after some research, I would just get them but keep my other LED light for a couple weeks and see if the corals do good under the new light and if so sell the old LED

I would use par 38 bulb that uses Cree LEDs in it. Like rapid led ones. And use at least 3.

I have 48 3w Cree LEDs on my tank from Rapid LED and the SPS are loving it! If you were to get 3 Par 38 bulbs thats 21 3w LEDs. I think you could get away with it if you go with the 60 degree optics but I think you will be low in the pur and par ratings. I would go with 4 if I were you but at that cost why not just grab a square heatsink from them and throw a 36 3w LED kit on it w/ dimmers? I guarantee you won't ever regret not having enough light.

I would agree, if two wouldn't do it, it wouldn't make much sense. I checked out the rapid site & it would be great to build my own and affordable considering the end result. I will take a closer look and crunch the numbers. I know you have done this so would you be available for advice?
      thanks for the input.
      P.S. didn't I meet you again at Jeff's a little while ago?

Depends type of corals that are going to need it and brand of LEDs used in the par38. Ideally DIY are much cheaper, but if you're focused on the par38 idea then at least 3+ bulbs with 60 optics par38s with Cree LEDs at a minimum. Best part about par38 than those 120 panels is that you can add on more if needed.
