A pump replacement is major, I would bet and assume that a unit still is getting water to the aquarium, and any pressure seen by the one user was just because of use from the birch system. Even if they have backups, you'd have to assume when a failure happens, water for the public is the first to be dropped and systems routed for the systems in the birch and marine biology systems. I have no reason to assum that the ground staff tht told goldfish world at least two weeks to be inaccurate. You have all had quotes from construction workers, raise your hand if they beat the quoted time frame... I see, zero hands raised...

I've got a lunch date with a student, I'll ask if they know anything we don't, and at least test it Thursday if it hasn't been updated tomorrow with ny new data, but I'd circle April 30/may 1st on my calendar as a guesstimate. None called kerckoff marine yet? Or too far for most of us?

I'm heading to LA on Monday... and might be getting 600 gallons from catalina water ... we'll see, as I'll also call Kerck to see if that's an option.

... if I have any leftover, yes. With a small markup to help with fuel costs.
All of that will be determined next week. And who knows, water may be back on by then!

Looks like I'm buying water...at .50 a gallon worth it to buy from a LFS as the Salt/Water RODI costs and process are time consuming!

Hmmm... I can only get 20g at a time. But the drive to goldfish world cancels out any savings...

Catalina Water only sells to wholesalers, not the general public. And Petco or Fountains, aren't allowed to fill at SCRIPPS anyway... so they have to use a "service".

Catalina DOES NOT have a tap, nor do they allow "drive up" service. No matter the size container you have... delivery only, and they get you where it hurts. I quoted 500 gallons today... and oh boy, I can't wait for SCRIPPS to open again!!!

When I was at the Carmel Mountain location we had a tanker truck with 6,000 gallons of water and we gave away water for 2 days.

Just call or PM your closest LFS and ask them what volume they carry and how much they charge. There is always an associated cost per gallon on water even if it's "free". Scripps is XX amount of miles from my house so in that instance its time and money.

LFS is saving me the hassle of making RODI (.30 a gal from a machine) and then Salt Mix costs not to mention getting it right, curing it, heating it, etc.
