Are you all talking about the water source in Corona Del Mar (thats slightly northern)
Kerckhoff Marine Laboratory -> http://www.its.caltech.edu/~mirsky/kml.htm
This one is only open certain hours.
I'd call, my source is a little older, but we got water once when in Newport beach. It may be too far North for you, but for some getting LOTS of water, and those that trek a little south to Scripts. Like I said, check it out, its been at least a year (If not a little more)>

I've heard of people mention something about one being in Santa Barbara. Maybe next to UCSB? Can't be worth it though, just mix!
Anyone know scripps status?
Ucsb is closed, projected to open by summer 2012, politics on new building at the moment.
Scripts has a busted pipe per post a few above..
Im sadly assuming ucsd? Not Berkley?
Time to get another ro order going
Hmmmm.... Tomorrow still the day?
Sent from my pager
See post 37, fromgoldfishworld, he was there yesterday, and told still 1.5 - 2 weeks due to two busted pumps. Now, this is "state funded", UCSB w supposed to be fixed in November of 2011, it's now April and they have been saying a couple weeks until about a week ago when they officially said it was a political issue with funding and won't be until summer 2012, just saying, hope for th best, expected worst, time to make sure ya have an emergency plan in contention...

I am sure catalinawater doesn't mind this situation. I have seen them at Petco and Fountain's before, now I imagine other LFS are having to go with them as well. Mixing my own just makes me grateful that Scripps is avail to all of us. Not sure I would be in the hobby without it. So, perhaps peeps were getting confused thinking catalina had a tap?

To the best of my knowledge, Catalina water is collected near long beach, and is known to be one of the "occasionally bad" NSW, I think I read its actually taken from off the end of the pier in the harbor. If you can imagine that, nothing like UCSB (which is considered the best to my knowledge) and Scripts (Not far back behind).
I used to use the water from scripts, and cant say anything bad about it. However, with the loss of my truck (had to buy a sub compact for my 140mi RT daily commute to work), I invested into a real nice, high volume RO/DI unit, and have been using Tropic Marin Pro Reef, and now ESV bionic 2 part. Its nice to have free (well, minus fuel charges) NSW, but sooner or later, something like this happens, and your now in a pinch...
I was at the pier about an hour ago. The water is on but very very very SLOW. I did not fill up, I just checked the tap as I was in the area. Not sure if it is on at full capacity, but that is what I saw.
Just had lunch next door. Not working.
Ohh!! crp LOL
