Why is my tank heating up so much??

I have a 90 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump and im not even running a heater and it is getting up to 83 degrees.. I have a chiller that I am running but I have no idea why I need to run it because my house it 70 degrees. The tank is acrylic

The only thing I can think that is heating it up is

      The pump from the skimmer..
The UV sterilizer which I unplugged this morning
and the return pump.. Which is external (I just touched it and it feels hot, is it suppose to be)??

Im only running a 36 watt LED light right now until I get my new lights.. so that is not generating any heat.

Its gotta be either the PH, return pump, or skimmer pump.

Have you got more than 1 temperature measuring device(imo, it's always good to have extra thermometers to cross reference), how old is all your equipment, is anything making excessive noise, is the tank in front of a window, how much water movement do you have? That information will all be helpful in trying to diagnose and rectify the issues you're having right now.

My equipment is a few years old. but nothing is making any noise. Its actually very quiet. My tank is 2.5 feet from a window that is next to it (it does not let any light in, it lets in fresh air though), Im not sure what the GPH of the pump but somewhere around 900-1000GPH and then 200gph powerhead.

I had things near my return pump, such as my battery backup and power strips. Do you think that could have made the return pump not been able to release heat?

One thing I'm always looking at in gear is watts, watts equal heat, so keep that in mind when shopping gear.
It's pretty common for some powerheads or return pumps to add some heat, as well as lights.
Also, I prefer an open top/no lid tank for evap and gas exchange, and an open cabinet back so there is some airflow to sump area.
A small cooling fan over sump can do wonders.

Thank you! I think my pump is 140 watts and i think that is a lot and my stand probably needs more ventalation to keep my tank cool.

Assuming that at least one of your thermometers is correct, and your tank is in-fact too warm, I would suspect your return pump of being the main source of heat.

Buying a simple, 4" fan for $20 from Target, Home Depot, etc and bowing it at the return pump and/or accross the surface of the water will cool off the tank by 1-3 degrees.
