SKIMZ SM 201 Monzter E-Series Protein Skimmer

I recently purchased a SKIMZ SM 201 Monzter E-Series protein skimmer for my 187 gallon tank. SKIMZ is a company that builds their skimmers in Singapore. The skimmer is rated by the company for tanks 200-500 gallons. SKIMZ uses their own brand of pumps that are made in Italy for them, and the pump that came with this skimmer draws 20 watts which was a big improvement on the energy usage of my old skimmer. The SKIMZ SM 201 is 9.4" square at the base and stands 21.8" high. The price was $449.

The skimmer draws the water into the skimmer from underneath:

      Build quality is excellent:

Finally, most importantly the skimmer does the job it was designed to do:

      7"-9.5" is what is recommended.

How is this skimmer working out for you so far? How quiet is the ES5000 pump? Thinking of getting one to replace my SRO.

Do you have the SM161? How quiet is the ES2800 pump?

Nice skimmer.. I was looking at buying one when I was in the market for a new skimmer but I couldn't find any in the states. Where you able to find a US vendor?

The skimmer has worked well for me, very quiet, no regrets for buying it. I bought mine from The Living Reef up in Utah only because I thought it might arrive sooner than from Aquacave, but it took them two weeks to send it out because their order had been delayed. Not very many places sell them in the states.

The Bubble Blaster pump on my SRO XP2000 is showing a lot of wear and tear after 3 years of continuous use. So instead of spending 189.99 for a new pump, I went and spent a little more on a Skimz SM201. Been reading a lot of positive reviews about it so I ordered it couple hours ago and used AquaCave's 10% off coupon that expired tonight.
