All right. I think with your help have something here.

Framing. Gussets on every corner. Top facing gussets will be used to attach the floor and the top layer of plywood.
Eyelets for attaching outside plywood trim have been completely removed (see below)

This is how I am going to attach the plywood trim. Attach 1" x 1 1/2" planks of wood to each piece,
so the planks will fit into 1" space between the outside metal frame (white) and inside door framing (orange).
This way i should be able to attach them all on the inside using simple L-brakets.

For now this stand will house a sump, but no tank. The sump will be plumbed into my BC29 sitting a few feet away,
so I will need a back opening. Once I decide on the actual tank for this stand, I will cover the hole with a another plywood
sheet (translucent on the picture), because the tank will be drilled from the bottom, so it looks nice from every angle, in case
i decide to make it a walk-around tank.

      Aaaaand finished product

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

I think that looks pretty good. So are only 3 sides of the stand gonna have doors?

Yep. I am planning on attaching my Apex controller, some kind of cable management and few other things to that back wall, and for now the stand will be sitting in the corner under the stairs, so it will not be visible at all.
The stand will definitely need some kind of ventilation to prevent mold, so even if I do have walk-around tank sitting in the middle of the room, I may install fans or vents into the back wall.

Now that i think about it, I should be able to convert back wall and attach a 4th door to it if I ever decide to do it, but I think 3 doors is more than enough.

Ya man that's gonna turn out great. Keep track of the build and take lots of pictures.

I would be inclined to leave the back open or at least make a vent or something in back.
Looks like a good plan, wish my drawings looked like that!

Someone just pointed me towards another crazy build thread, where I got a few more ideas to complicate my life even further. haha.
Guys skills are exceptional! I simply can not walk away from that thread without taking something. Just look at the skimmer he built. Whoa.

I am going to see what I can do about those magnetic panels (have to give this one to Larry, though. i saw it there first) and a dry side for all electric stuff
Maybe even make entire back wall magnetic and put it on to impress guests

And thanks for the compliment, but I still can barely find my way around SketchUp.
There are a ton of tutorial videos available. That's how I learned.

yes sir. my girl's dad said it would be no problem for him to do it at work. he just has to tell his boss that he is doing that.

1 1/2" tubing looks crazy big! this thing is gonna weigh as much as the tank itself.

also exploring finishing options. i used formaica before when i built a dj console and it came out pretty damn well.
i figured with salt water all around, formaica/nevamar would be a good option. perhaps even white. the only downside is that color is not all the way through, so the edges/seams will be visible. i am yet to find a way to work around it, other than going for dark color so they are less visible.
