It seem like a good deal. I got 3 of mine from ebay, made in china 120w 3w/bulb 20k and it works like a champ it cost me $160X3=?
it all comes from china now. Any one go to www.alibaba.com they can custom make what ever you want. Thats probably where alot of these guys get there start, search for aquarium led.
Yup most do come from China. Good to see people using the cheaper stuff and having the same results. Why spend 250 or so when they are 169-199 from there. I found some 60w and 90w UFO pendents on there too that were awesome prices. Bridgelux/CREE led's built however you want.
They look just like the ones the fish stores are selling for 225 and up plus tax... Free shipping and no tax sounds like a killer deal to me... The LFS's are going to hate you for this post...lol I'm gonna order one next week to replace a 150w MH I have on another tank... Thanks Dude... -Paul-
Just got mine in. I've got two of them. They look awesome so bright....Anyways I have to figure out how to hang them. I'll put pictures in here later. I couldn't believe how fast they shipped it from Canada it got here quick and FREEEEEE shipping UPS nice...

I question that too but I've seen others that people have spent nearly 200 or more on and it is remarkably similar.
Those are bridgelux and i have a bridgelux LED and mine works great, its was a DIY fixture
Mine is 270 watts. Maybe if you are in oceanside or in my area you could come check it out to get an idea
I agree DIY is the way to go but I'm not that handy.
99% of all LEDs come from the China manufacturing area.
... Why buy the $250 ones? I can answer that... if they are 1:1, there's not much difference fixture to fixture. However, it costs a few bucks more to custom order your fixtures to the desired light output. For example, ask'em if they'll do 4 drivers (to run cooler) and give you 4 cords (for more control) and allow you to use custom colored LEDs. Like 420nm Purples. You'll see why the cost is driven up for such a fixture.
The fish stores... they've got to make a buck. Can't fault them for that.
PLUS, you have to send Western Union (some accept paypal) and pay the transfer fees, which aren't too bad. But depending on the size of your order depends on where it's best to walk in and send the money from.
The worst part of ordering direct, is your warranty. You know it'll cost $100+ to send your light back overseas to get it repaired under warranty?? If you buy from a local store, it's them who have to warranty or deal with it (in most cases). For example, the lights I sell (and make $8 on each light) or help reefers order... I warranty, as I have spare parts in stock for each fixture I sell. I'm not in it for the money... just to help reefers out (make custom ordering easy), educate them on LEDs from overseas, and get reefers to use LEDs as it's a cost saving purchase.
I saw these on Ebay. I am still not ready to purchase at this time. I bought a killer welso from a guy from a guy in Imperial Beach. He was attempting to keep predominantly SPS and had an Ecoray 60 above a 20 gallon tank. His SPS were colorful but had little if any growth after 18 months of operation. He is attempting to sell his light and go with a T5 fixture. I myself prefer metal halide with T5 supplementation for my SPS due to growth issues. I understan AI is in the process of adding UV and possibly infrared led's to their fixtures in the near future specifically for SPS. Of course AI will spike their prices initially after recently lowering their prices. Eventually the perfection and costs of LED's will mirror the online prices. I am waiting for that time before I switch.
