      Clownfish sick?

      Tank size- 25 gallons
      Age of tank- 3+ months
      Salinity- 1.026
      Water temperature- 78 degrees
      Dosing anything?- No
Any recent changes to tank- Added some corals this past week
Inhabitants (fish)- Occ. clownfish and red scooter blenny

I turned on my lights today and saw that my clonfish has white strings almost coming off of his fins and his left side. These werent there last night and also he refused to eat when i fed mysis today. Im not able to get a picture of it because he wont stay still long enough for my camera to focus. I have no idea what it is but it seems to be making it hard for him to swim

      Hmm... could be several things:

      - a Fungus

      - mucus from some coral that he ran into

      - mucus/slime after he ran into / was stung by / was injured by a coral

If a fish scrapes up against ANY coral and gets scratched, there is the potential for some sort of infection.

The white fins sound similar to Fin Rot - a type of bacterial infection..

Fin rot is what I was thinking. There are a few reef safe meds you can use for that but I would absolutely make certain that is what it is before you start treating.

Did it start hosting a nem or coral? I remember when my maroons first started hosting thier nem its fins frayed and turned white along with its mouth i know i freaked out but it still had its appetite not sure if that happens a lot or if this is the same thing

The white strings are all gone, it has started hosting my fungias and seems to be eating again
