Where would be a good place to get a tds meter or does anyone have one i can borrow? I could even bring a water sample over just to test it and see because im curious now.

You can order a TDS meter off like foster & smith, and I saw one of those Brita commercials that says you get a free TDS meter w/ one(those are ok for drinking water) though I'm not sure how quality those are, or maybe you just want to borrow one from someone, though most likely your machine will vary a little bit depending on how often it is serviced.
I never let my TDS get over .003ppm
I agree w/ the what works for others comment by Jason, I mean Peter/SDguy fills his tank initially w/ tap from the hose, and I would FREAK on doing that, but he's a chemist, doses, and has all the good gear as well as established systems/LR.
Me, I'm a sissy, I want all the training wheels I can get that help aid in success!LOL

i have a couple tds meters (one being from a zero water drinking water setup) and they all seem to read about the same. so i keep one in the house and one in the garage where my ro/di is. i can check the brands of them when i get home.

So i found out partial issue with my fungias, i had it in the middle of my tank on the sand bed so it was getting blasted with light from my led fixture. I moved it to the side out of direct light and it is looking much better, i also upped my salinity
