You may be right, it could be coincidence, all I know is I had a a ton of pods in my sump at one time before adding it, then I didn't see them anymore, I took off the UV and not long after I had a huge pod population again.
I have to think the smaller pods offspring are small enough to go through my UV, and on my 15w unit w/ very low flow it's hard for me to imagine that at least not hindering the cycle of reproduction.

You know in thinking about it more, how could a UV kill an ich parasite, or at least help in killing the free floating ich parasites, and not kill small copepods?
They have to be fairly similar in size.

The uv could be killing pods food source causing a crash in thier population , But id like to believe that it does have an effect on killing ick, i'm usin one in my 10 right now to help fight ick. Its a green machine meant for a 10 gallon hospital tank but since the tank affected is a 10 in it went. As far as is it helping, well the fish isnt getting worse, But one thing i can say is that it sure does clear up green water.

That could kinda make sense to me, but I do still have a ton of chaeto in there for them.
I know they could easily be picked up from the UV feed tube, and wonder if they get sterilized same as ich.
I'm going to watch what happens and see if I get the same results as last time.
Sure is helping w/ the film algae.

You want really low flow, the lower the better, so like 100-300gph.
I have mine hooked to a very small powerhead like what you use for an undergravel filter.
Maybe I'll loan you mine if timing seems right, and you can check it out.
