Well, Shelly, I am looking forward to aquascaping this tank thanks to your suggestions. It should be interesting doing islands instead of the shelf style that I had before. A tank with a 24" x 96" footprint allows for lots of variety in how it is laid out. I am planning on having lots of tangs and they will have plenty of swimming room.

While I am waiting for schedules to allow time to get my stand built, I am keeping busy in what little free time I have doing little prep jobs for getting this system up and running. I bought some new pieces of scrap plexi to re-do the baffles in my sump. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get them cut and glued into place. Since I am using all of the same equipment for this rebuild, it will be very easy to improve upon what I did last time. I am also going to get some networking run out there to the garage so I can get at least one of the webcams up and running. I want to have them up while the tank is being built. Keep an eye out for the link which will be posted in this thread.

Time to dust off this thread. Today I pulled out my sump, scraped all of the dried up corraline off and got it cleaned up and prepared to put new baffles in. I have also done some cleaning in the garage to make room for the new "Man cave" set up. Once I get a stand built I will be well on my way.

New baffles have been cut and siliconed into my 100g sump. One of the 1000 steps toward getting the 300g back up is done. I think I will run the networking cables into the garage to get my webcams up and running. I'll need the connectivity for my controllers as well.

Can't wait! Get to work!
Now all I need is a way to get wood to my house. I hate not having a truck anymore!
I have a plan for the stand, now I just need to get the materials and get it built. Once the stand is in place I will be able to lay out the big pieces and start on the plumbing. Gotta do some electronics stuff as well. Lots to do....

We can strap it to the roof of my rental car. I should get my truck back in a couple weeks.

Finished the structure of my stand today. Just need to put a top on it and throw some paint on it. Probably do that tomorrow. Once I get it finished and in place, I will be able to place the tank, sump, skimmer, etc. and then the plumbing begins. Hopefully it will be wet in a few weeks. I'll be out of town for all of next week, so as usual, work is slowing me down.

I have been sorting through the different options for LED lighting for this build and I think I may go with the Extreme SPS package kit from stevesleds.com. I really like their control interface and I am a fan of the Luxeon LEDs. This setup will interface directly with my RKE system for control. It will run me about $800 which isn't too bad for such a large tank. If I stick with my MH lighting, I would still be spending about $350 on new lamps that will have to be replaced in a year. As much as I don't like the look of LED lighting anywhere let alone in a fish tank, I think it makes the most economic sense to go this route.

I'm excited to see this thing start coming together. Let me know if you need any help with picking up materials(I have a full size truck) or anything else. Surely I could learn some things just by being around you while work is being done.

I will keep that in mind and take you up on that offer if needed. Thanks!
Currently the tank is on the new stand and having just returned home from Aspen I am ready to get going on more of the set up. Gotta get about 25 bulkheads ordered from AquaSD and do the usual trip to HD for some PVC. Still trying to decide on what approach to take on the lighting. Common sense says to use LED's, which I would assemble myself, but I do love the look of MH lighting so much more.

Man....27 bulkheads is a lot. That's what I need to get to do the plumbing on this tank. I can hardly wait. Hopefully this week I can get started on it. Work keeps getting in my way.
