Well its been 3 weeks since I have installed the T5 on my tank....and all I can says is wow!! Big difference! First think that I noticed after installing the lights was that how well my tank was lit from all 4 corners. All of my corals, from mushrooms and zoas at the bottom, to SPS on top are loving the light. I am starting to see true colors of the corals. Reds are deep reds, greens are bright greens and blues that were brown are starting to look blue again. Two my acans that were grey are now starting to get the original red and green colors in them.

I had to turn down the whites on my LED almost by 50% as some of the corals like superman monti were starting to bleach. My blue/royal blue on the LED has also been reduced to 80% peak. It's hard to tell the growth rate of corals, but my CA and ALK uptake has increased, so I can only imagine that these lights have had a positive effect on the coral growth.

I like these lights so much that I have added a fixture to my frag tank as well. Only thing I don't like with these fixtures is that they do not come with an acrylic splash guard. I'll have to wipe down the bulbs and the reflector more often, or might just raise the lights by few inches.

Next challenge, how to take picture with T5 lights

Yep, T5 is the way to go with SPS. You will also find the light is easier to take pictures with than LED which always is too blue for most camera's auto setting.

Next time also try Aquablue Special instead of Purple plus.

How did the lights fit on top of the tank with your existing LED's? Looks good?

Looks like as of today photobucket has restored the links to the hosted images on the internet. Did not want to go thru the trouble of moving all the images to a new server.
So now I am going start updating this thread. Starting with new 40g setup on the side.

Yes. This 40g is doing well. 160g is still empty. I hurt my right arm and suffered from frozen shoulder for almost a year so could not do any work. I am 90% better, so will start working on the 160g very soon.

Was looking at that skimmer. Not happy with my desktop I’m skimmer.. it’s been leaking out the sides or only produces skim when you provide more oxygen.

From what I have ready, its an excellent performing skimmer for a small tank. Mine started to skim withing an hour of installing it. It is bit pricier than some other skimmers though.
