Nothing in my tank died... all is well.
And for those who used 12V Inverters from their cars, are genius. Especially because they aren't noisy like a generator, and can be moved into the house (if your able to remove your car battery). SMART!!
I know it's not much (and hindsight), but an airstone and a powerhead is all you really need. Some of those inverters are junk, but get one... test it, and hopefully next time your home or in the area (not on vacation). I think "how long your tank can survive without any electrical" depends heavily on the size of your tank, and your bioload. It seems some tanks crashed hard, when others had no problem (for similar downtime duration).
I myself will always have a generator fueled and ready. It's the CHEAP way to secure your livestock. An $800 generator would have paid for itself in some of your posts.
My fish all have names. I can't imagine losing them due to some idiot who "tripped the breaker" over in AZ somewhere!! (I know that's downplaying it, but you get the point).
