Tunze doc nano protein skimmer 9002
The Tunze 9002 d.o.c. nano protein skimmer is a good skimmer. I bought two of them. One for my display and one for my frag tank.
The skimmer is very compact. One of the only skimmers that would fit in the back of my 28g JBJ. Produces a nice skimmate. Easy to adjust. Pretty easy to clean.
One issue I had with the skimmer was the size of the cord. It was so fat I could barely put the skimmer back together after cleaning. Also due to the thickness, the cord actually pulled out of the skimmer pump and left wires exposed. I did some research on the web and found this was happening to a lot of people. Tunze was aware of the problems and, from what I understand, the newer 9002s have a thinner cord.
I bought my skimmer new about a year and a half ago and wasn't sure about the warranty. Dropped Tunze an email about the issues. Got a quick reply back, "Please send in the pump and as long as the wire doesn't appear to be chewed or mechanically cut, it would be replaced under warranty." A+ customer service.
Even with the above issues I would highly recommend this skimmer to a friend. I think the 9002 is the best nano skimmer on the market.
Please don't park in my neighbor's driveway.
