      D.I.Y. fuge

hey guys, so i just got some cheato from a friend cause i am having some small algae problems, i dont have a fuge, just a 10 gal sump. so here's what i did and tell me what you think, i took a 14 in tall storage canister, drilled one small hole near the bottom and cut out an overflow on one side put like 3 lbs. of live rock and a handfull of cheato. The intake for it is the the return from the skimmer. the lighting comes from the LEDs that are mounted from my ceiling that light my tank. the light hits my sump just fine, cause the sump is not in a stand, so i dont think i need a grow light for the algae right? here's some pics, this is my first one so i would greatly appreciate some feed back and/or constructive criticism.

Interesting idea. I would suggest that you still pick up a light for the cheato. If you want to get really good growth on it, then it is going to need more light than you give your display tank. Many people set up their fuge's to run on a reverse light cycle where the lights of the fuge are on while the tank lights are off. Others suggest running fuge lights 24 hours a day. I personally run mine for about 18 hours and get good results.

I can see the pics just fine .

Sure. If it's growing well, it will outgrow that container pretty fast so you'll just have to trim often.
