HELP!!! I think my Anenome Exploded?!?!

AH, I just put it in last night and this morning the water is cloudy and there is no sign of it.... I dripped it for at leasr 40 minutes before releasing it into the tank. Looked very happy and healthy. Opened right up and found a home. Then this morning.... I'm going to do a water change as soon as I get home, but do I need to worry about anything in particular?

Damn man, the one you just got yesterday? I would agree with Krispy on that it probably got sucked onto a powerhead. I actually just had that happen 3 days ago and it took out an SPS colony. Generally you wont find much if it did happen, just small chunks here and there and cloudy water, but not a large body mass. Definatly do a water change and run extra carbon to help absorb the toxins. Also take apart you powerheads and check them cause there still might be pieces in them you dont want rotting in there. Sorry to hear that though

It will help overall with the tank but not too much with this kind of mess. A water change and new carbon would probably help more. I have to work today at PK so let me know if you want me to bring it with me.

The sucks you can't clean it sooner, you may end up with an ammonia spike and more deaths.

i had the same proablem. dammm thing found its new home in my powerhead then was sliced and diced into a gazillion pieces i did a water change and went and got a new one. this time made sure the thing didnt float around my tank also i bought some sponges for my heads

I was lucky it was going into my protein skimmer but I found it before it was all sucked it just tore up some its still living in my tank.

So.. this whole thing has a happy ending. (besides the goo I had to clean out of my pumps) Everything in the tank survived the nasty water! got a new skimmer (Thanks Danny!) and water is clean and clear after only a few days. Thanks everyone for the help!
