If you lose power you will also lose the siphon return to your sump, right? What happens when the power is restored and your not home?

what you need to do is drill a small hole at the top of the overflow pipe and glue an airline tubing connector in there.

Then you take some airline tubing from there to a aqua lifter pump:

These things are pretty cheap on marine depot or at an LFS. Or if you want, I could sell you one at a discount (I have a couple).

From there just run another piece of airline tubing to the sump.

This way the pump will ensure that you keep a siphon. If the power goes out, the pump comes back on and regains siphon.

      Looking good!

      +1^^
On extension hose so you don't have to go under the hood... lol Just a couple of ft. would make that so much easier... and when you see the water,... stop sucking.
Shouldn't have to suck a mouth full...? Just suck enough to get the water over the hill and let gravity do the work for you.

++1 ^^ on Aqualifter to keep constant siphon...
These are cheaper than your next coral and good peace of mind knowing all your hard work does not go out the window when the power goes out.
AW has them ~<$20. OR find someone who will let you have one cheaper.

You should shut your power off occasionally and check this to make sure that everything comes back on when it is supposed to.
...and every few months you should clean your pumps in vinegar to keep them working.

Ok 2 maxi jets 900 are rated at 247 GPH at 0 head, 75 GPH at 3’ head .So you have a little less than 150 gph going on does this sound right? I am getting ready to do a setup like yours.
