      Stand design

So I'm in the middle of planning my dream (short term) aquarium. I'm keeping my volume the same, but adjusting my square footage.

This is what I'm working with for now I don't like reaching over the canopy every time I have to go elbows wet, so bye-bye canopy.

So with those things in mind, what are some things you creative people have as features of your stand that you like?

Edit: Oh yeah, it was a big pain to fit my sump in there, and its actually sort of small I think. So open-ness is key

and don't worry about incorporating the litter box

I went with removable panels on 3 sides for max sump and easiest access. Going with the same removable theme, my canopy is an ultralight 3 sided frame sheeted with 1/4 inch mahogany ply. The lights and fan are on a separate frame that sits on top of the tank. I plan on replacing the frame with the bent conduit/pipe/hanger technique when I go to LED lighting. Should allow completely unobstructed "elbows wet" access.

      that looks killer.....
on the reverse, remember lots of cord outlet holes.....maybe think of wiring the stand to have extension cords/surges/outlets BUILT in and waterproofed, that way you only need to run 1-2 grounded cords out side the stand....

Maybe think of waterproofing, or splash-guarding the sump area.....possible over flows, or filter sock clogs and thusly bubble-overs....

Looks good. If you don't mind, PM the price that dude is charging to build that 'cuz it looks like a pretty bad ass stand. Thanks.

I like this. I agree with splitkooks, I didn't do that on my last stand and ended up having issues with rotting from the salt and water splashing.

I like the idea of wiring the stand.
