      Need help with macro lens

My Girlfriend has the Nikon D5000. I want to get her a cheap macro lens that will work with her camera. Doesn't have to be super fancy top of the line. Just something that will take nice pictures of corals. My budget is extremely limited, to say the least. Might be able to squeeze three hundred out, but hopefully less. I know nothing about photography. Can anybody recommend a cheap lens that is compatible or should I get one of those attachment/filter things? If so which one is best? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and she already has the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR, and the AF-S DX VR Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED.

Agreed... the only thing that could help would be an underwater case.... which is probably too bulky for an aquarium, and prevents use of the 55-200mm. The camera should have "macro modes" to work with both lens, now your limitation will be limited by the placement of the corals to the glass...

Perhaps go get a "coral viewer" (plastic box with a clear bottom)

Ive shot surfing professionally now for just over 6 years. Cheapest is always best, aslong as your guaranteed results (and a dry camera).

I have, many times, used a super cheap drylock bag with PAS cameras, as well as my older 1D and 5/7D's..... In a pinch mind you....

Think about macro 'add on' lens magnifiers, they will give you several times more magnification with roughly 2-4cm focual length. THey clip to the end of any lens, and allow for great macroscopic captures.
