SCUBA Photo Tips

I was recently SCUBA certified and this caught my attention. Not anything too spectacular in terms of info but useful for starting out. If you're creative it might apply a bit to home systems in terms of subject choices and positioning.

I wish I had a partner to get back into the hobby with I miss sitting and watching a four foot space while blowing bubbles. I guess I still do that without wearing all the equipment though. LOL!

CDN has periodically runs good articles like this.
Very informative and free for just stopping by a dive store. The usually have species articles. location info and other good stuff.

I actually moved out of the area just recently, and yea finding dive partners is difficult. I wanted to say "well at least on land it's cheaper" but I really don't think that's the case, lol. I think I will start checking the dive shops more often, I haven't seen a whole lot but at the same time I haven't looked too hard, thanks for the tip.

I'm a retired scuba instructor and have spent many an hour trying to lull fishes into the position best for my camera. Typically you just get whatever shot you can get because you usually only have a second or two to get the shot... and gone... Your main goal being to get close enough to get a good shot without distrubing the fish, and then if you are lucky (without baiting them in...) hoping it gets into the position you want. I'm now experimenting with the aquarium... the fish can't swim away but only a few will stay still.... so patience is still a virtue. (and you don't have to worry about your partner becoming bored) The key seems to me to be more about the lighting and not blocking it during macro shots... and you really can't add strobes... I'll share some of my photos, once I add them to a server...
