I just got back from there, the water is off and a guy who works there basically said the same thing. He didn't say it would never be on again, but wasn't sure if or when it would be. So it could be never.
He said something about a tank underneath that was getting contaminated by the people washing their crap and selfs off, he said they were mostly concerned about the washing of their bodies off and contamintaing the tank.
He gave me a name and number to call to "complain about the water being shut off"(his words). I don't think I'll call to complain, but I'll call to inquire next week.

Crossing my fingers that they turn it back on soon.

I don't get why/how people are washing kids and bodies off there. I've never seen anybody do that there. And there is no parking there, what beach goer knows there is a spigot there? The nearest public parking is far. That sucks 'cause a big reason I got into the hobby is because I could get water there. Can't they something where you can slide in a 5 gallon container kinda like the RO Glacier machines in front of grocery stores? An Elevated box with a grate drain, maybe 2 ft high and a spigot pointing down 2ish ft above it?

I've seen surfers and beach people us the hose to wash off the sand before but not recently I only go a night to get water. If they don't want beach ppl using it they should only have it on in the evening when the beach ppl are gone.

Please, Roland, do so. The whole thing is ridiculous at this point. I feel bad for people that use it. I mean, could it be more cloak and dagger... who can use it? When? Why? Why is it there? What's all the construction for? It goes on and on with hearsay and gossip.

If this was something private that the public was not to have access to, there would simply be a locked gate around it, end of discussion.

Totally agreed. A face to face meeting with someone in a position of authority would go a great deal farther.

I was just there at 4pm. The worker standing in the filter area said it will be back on after construction. The reason was somebody left the water running. bummer.....

I wonder how many different stories will be told.
I don't doubt what you are saying, but it's not what I was told by a guy standing in the fiter area earlier today.
Lets hope your guy knows more than the guy I talked to.
I'm gonna stop talking about it now.

Roland, you could try this one if you don't have a better contact. This is the woman who suggested tagging the donations to the animal husbandry fund with "for water at scripps pier". She never did get back to me though, even after the valves got installed.

Thank you for being our champion! I have inquired when the salt water tap will be functional again and will let you know. All the best, Dyanne

Man it's like chicken little or something close to it. Scripps is providing water to the public for free. They don't have to provide the tap. Marching down there with torches and pitchforks isn't the best way to get things done. Neither is whining about it.

The water will become available or it will not. Personally if I was Scripps and saw some of the posts dealing with this issue, I'd yank the whole thing out and solve a lot of headaches for myself.

Suck it up, mix your water and wait to see what happens.
