      Need Help With Reseal!

edit: I have decided to reseal myself!

I have a 72 gallon bow front freshwater planted Discus tank. It is really nice. I noticed some water leaking from the bottom front right corner. Looks like a bad seal that I can't get to without fully draining and emptying the tank. Leak is slowly getting worse. So I don't know what to do. I don't have a ton of cash right now. Record store has been really slow and bills are all due. Anyone selling a tank, stand and maybe lighting for cheap? If so please let me know. Or anyone want to buy a nice Discus setup that leaks, or trade setups? If there is any interest I will post the details.

Thought about buying a 45/55 gallon barrel or two to put everything in while I try to reseal but I don't even know if it is the seal for sure, and I have never done this before.

I wonder what caused this? Probably that last big earthquake a couple months back. It scared the crap out of me. Water was splashing back and fourth out of the tank.

If someone has a tank they want to trade I also have ipods, unlocked cell phones, a kegerator, keg shells, a wireless router, rare vinyl records, a VPI record cleaning machine, a all sewn on dark blue Phillip Rivers jersey and maybe some other stuff I can't think of right now.

this sucks man! 1 option I could throw your way for a possible fix for cheap $$. couple of 30 gallon trash cans (or whatever you have around, if you're an apartment dweller, they're not too pricey at depot) with brand new trash bags (they're clean and safe for use this way.) Fill them up with EVERYTHING (gravel, water, decorations, fish, etc.) Use the filters from your tank on the cans, now that tank is empy, see if you can spot leak. Reseal, give 36 hours to dry, and then refill with tap. If seal holds, set back up. If the tank hasn't completely emptied over last few days, it's probably a pretty tiny leak.
All I could think of, hope you find a solution!

Yeah that is what I was thinking with the barrels but trashcans would probably be way cheaper. Thanks for the tip.

I have a 50-60 gallon tank and stand. No lights though. If you're in a pinch you can use them. I'll have to make sure the tank still holds water. They're just sitting in my garage. PM me and we can work something out.

Andy, sorry to hear about this man. Probably the cheapest route would be to reseal your Discus tank. If you need a holding container, I have a 55 Gallon drum you can use if you want.

Thank you very, very much. That is super cool. I will pass because I think I am going to try and reseal but I still really appreciate the offer.

I have never resealed a tank before and I want it done right so I never have to go through this again. It sounds easy enough but I think I would rather pay someone with experience for piece of mind. Anyone do this or know someone who does? If so could I get a quote to reseal a 72 gallon? Also I don't have a truck so the reseal would probably have to take place at my house. Any help will be appreciated!

contact LarryM here on SDreefs. On the recommendation of many others here, he re-sealed a tank for me and did a great job.

Still looking. Anyone want to hook me up with a cheap reseal job?

Probably going to have to do this myself.

If you decide you need a tank or the reseal goes foul. Let me know.
