Another good point
I buy water from time to time at the water store when I need a lot of RO in a hurry. It is 30 cents a gallon. I would not care if Scripps put a "meter" on the hose with a place to put your dollars. Revenue for them. Free is good, but I prefer to pay my own way. It would sure stop the massive trucks that take a bozillion gallons and then sell it.
Ain't that the truth,
Wheeldog welcome to the site, should have said that earlier but I got caught up in debate
Just want to comment on buying RO from the Gacier vending machines.
I buy the RO from those Glacier machine too (though I have a 100g/day RO/DI and it take like 1/2 hour to make 5g). The thing about those machines outside the super market is that they're not always clean. Some can be very dirty due to the fact that people are not doing maintenance like they're supposed to. I fought red slime for 2 months before I found out 2 of the 3 water vending machines had TDS measured about 35ppm. Now I always measure the water with a TDS meter, mark the good ones and only buy water from those machines.
Good call. I do not buy it from a vending machine at a store. It is a Pure Water store on Campo that will gladly show you the weekly results they have for their testing. They have massive filtration units in the store that you can see. When it is closed, you can still buy water from them in the vending machine out front. The machines out in front of Von's and Albertson's I would never use.
So anyone in the know aware of when the construction will be finished?
Suppose to be sometime this month from what I gather, probably the end of the month
To help clear things up, this was from a past email I received from Scripps communication office.

"The salt water supply system is supported by the University of California, San Diego, and is part of their larger water filtration system. There is no specific money set aside (i.e. Taxes, private donations, etc.) for its operation and maintenance."
Sounds like a good cause for donations. If each person here who uses it donates $10.00 what a great gesture of good will that would be. (*No, I do not want to organize this.)
Are you sure? I think you would make a great donation organizer!!
Getting "donations" out of this group might be akin to dental surgery. I could be wrong.... but who knows?
