      Construction at Scripps?

Hi, can someone give me a main number I can call to find out about if the water spigot is available? I seem to call a differ person at the plant everytime. They are always very nice, but if I could just get to the person that knows. Thanks.

the water isn't available as of yesterday, but according to some people on here it should be back up soon. Since there's no actual date I went and got some salt and mixed some of my own water. I'll be happy when it's back, I haven't had to mix my own water in years.

      scripps

I recently went to the aquarium office to inquire.

      (1) admin did not know the public source was down!
      (2) admin inquired "inside", and reported no ETA

I asked to tap their source and they said "not available" to the public.

At a $1.00/mile to operate a vehicle (very rough approx.), I'm re-thinking Scripps and back to mixing.
RO/DI wastes water though, and my tank 'appeared' to prefer Scripps -- maybe my imagination.

In any event, my 2-cents: water changes, lighting, flow, don't over-stock.
As posted before though, we have successful tanks in our database that have 'never' had a water change.

They have finished pouring the concrete walls and have removed the wood forms. The last two days they have been adding gravel to finish the "french" drain. After that, they will probably fill the dirt in and level the grounds. I have no idea as to their ultimate plans directly around the water source, but the heavy machinery that is doing the previously stated work could be gone by next week if they don't do something new in that area. Because they haven't started anything new yet, like digging, I would guess that it is close to completion. I work down here and have lunch right next to the construction every day. As soon as I see things open I will post.

Next time you see the UCSD van down by your lunch area wave at the driver, it might be me

The question: Is the water on, and they just don't want the gen public in the construction area, or is the water off with a chance it is not coming back as a service?

Last I visited, hoses were still hooked-up.

$1 a mile yeah that's a very rough estmate. I live in Linda Vista and I'm about 12 miles away and I know it don't cost me $24 in gas going there in back. I filled my car up 1/2 way for $22 dollars and I barely used probaly $5-6 in gas and when I go to Scripps I fill up 50 gallons worth of water so it's still way cheaper then mixing your own water. Until they get the water on I've been buying my water at Pet Kingdom for .60 cents a gallon.

There is a temporary spigot. The water is off on the old spigot.

I have not seen any signs to not use the temp spigot...I received an email stating the old spigot is temporary unvailable, but doesn't state anything else for the public to not use the temp spigot. They don't put a hose on it. They just don't want more traffic there cause of contsruction...but at night there is no traffic.
I will go later with my hose and get some and see if anyone cares.

The new spigot is right around the corner of the old spigot, it's much shorter, has a red valve handle. There is no temp hose bib for the new spigot. I will bring my own hose to get water.
