      I have a mixed tank right now, SPS, LPS. But I'm not sure if just 2 of these would be enough or not. Based on their "coral placement guide" I'd have to put clams on top of the tank near the surface which doesn't make any sense..

      I don't know. I was talking to the guy at MAX and he couldn't really tell me. You could try two and have your 150w MH on standby if your corals start to take a dump then just get another strip of leds.

      I wish I could do that! But unfortunately "this is it" ! Whatever light I get is gonna be the only one I'll have.

      I like the fact that if I get LEDs then I won't have to pay to replace bulbs anymore and obviously the big savings on the electric bill, the main thing pushing me over to LEDs is that when compared to MH, they will pay for themselves in savings after 1-2 years!

      I can either pay $110 and buy the 150MH, then pay $20+ per month and $60 per year in bulbs,

      Or

      Pay $225 for the 2 LED modules and pay like $5 per month and $0 per year for replacement.

      What do you have in your tank right now? If it's not heavily stocked I would definetly go with the LEDs

      Are you doing these on star boards?
      I am interested in probably 12 and 12. from what I have read the XPg over powes the RB and you probably need less than the 50/50 recommendation. How do you figure what meanwell to use and how many lamps it will run?

      I've been running a ton of questions and different setups thorugh scubajay. He's been helping a ton. My plan is to dim down the over powering whites to where I want them. If they are too bright I'm just going to supliment with some led strips from ecoxotic.com. The meanwell can run up to 14 but that would be max. To get full power of the leds I'm only going to run 12 so I don't overload the driver. The lights do not come mounted but for an exra few cents you can get them. The prices I posted are for the led mounted on star boards.

      Okay think I've got my setup pretty much figured out. The following is what I'll be getting from Cutter.com

      XPGWHT-L1-1B0-R5-0-01
      http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut937

      Price=6.46ea mounted to PCB
      10 (-1.19)
      50 (-1.49)
      100 (-1.78)
      250 (-2.08)

      XP-E ROYAL BLUE
      http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut902

      Price=5.91ea mounted to PCB
      6-10 (-0.35)
      11-24 (-0.50)
      25-49 (-0.70)
      50-100 (-0.95)

      Meanwell ELN-60-48D dimmable driver
      http://www.cutter.com.au/products.ph...Power+Supplies
      Price=$44.95ea

      I'll be getting:
      24 white
      25blue(for the price break)
      4 drivers
      Total=$473.34 (free shipping)

      Post what you would like. I'll add it to the account and post prices after the price breaks. I think the best way to do this would be paypal if that works for whoever wants to do this. I'd like to send out the order sunday night.

      P.S. The prices for the leds are a little off due to the price breaks. Once all orders are submitted the prices will be right. They are only off by a few cents (+ or -)

      Also an interesting piece of info, LPS don't do very well with LED's. Just something I noticed is most LED builds. People have said that Softies and SPS do well tho. Most LED builds are to strong for LPS. They don't extend much and stay small, but they do multiply quick tho. You should check out info from EvilC66, reading his post's have helped me learn a lot. I read that the Cree XRE's are even over kill for most builds. The benefit of using CREE's newer, more powerful LED's (higher lumen's), is that they can be under driven. This would give decent lumen output and run cooler, which in turn extends the life.

      The drivers I am getting can be dimmed without the dimmer. So I won't be getting any dimmers.
      So far I'm the only for sure one on this GB, and we could work out somewhere to meet. I don't know how long cutters shipping time would be. I can't imagine it would be insanely long though.

      The Drivers are dimmable but you need a dimmer (0-10 volt source) to dim them. I know a few people were working on some modules to do that but I have not heard of anything completed besides using another voltage source to do this.
