Getting 48 LEDs from ecoxotic comes out to $453 shipped dude, at this rate you coould just get 4xPanorama Modules and save yourself the trouble of the build! lol, but these probably don't put out the same amount of light as the ones you're planning on getting

How much do you estimate it would cost to build a 24 led unit with 12xwhite and 12xblue according to your specifications?

I would to. I'll wait till LEDs come down a few notches.

I checked out rapidled and from what I saw they don't carry the XP-Es royal blues, they do carry the XP-Gs though. I think I'm going to get my leds from the links scubajay posted. The lights are around $5 for the same ones that rapidled.com has for $7. As far as the heatsinks go I'm going to do some hunting and see if there are cheaper ones around.

The Meanwell ELN-60-48D are about the same price as rapidled.com so it'd probably be easier to get the leds and dimmable drivers from cutter.com. I'll be getting 4 of them and it'll come out to just under $180 for them. For the lights and drivers together so far I've got $450 easily qualifying for free shipping. There is no price break for the drivers just the LEDs. The heatsinks they have are not large enough for our use. I'm going to be making my heatsinks out of some scraps I've got at work. I'm still searching for some cheap dimmers.

How many of these LEDs do you think will roughly equal the light of a 150MH?

was actually going to get a few of those to replace one of my 175w MHs. After doing a bunch of research I realized that if I just built my own I could get way more power for less money over all. From what the guy said at MAX it'll probably do pretty well on your tank. What do you have in it?
