New Tank, new2hobby, need pif free corals

hey my girlfriend and i have invested about 800 bucks in out 40 gallon tank, finally set up and cycling, got a gobyshrimp pair in there, and the only coral is a smallllllllllll xenia from pet kingdom that cost me ten bones, i really wanna get some smaller corals and frags (for free) and grow them myself because they cost so damn much. Anyway i read about pif corals and i want in! hit me up and we can burn1 too!

Anybody else read that he just started cycling and has fish and corals? Prob not a good idea to be PIF-ing anything until he goes through a proper cycle, bloom, etc. IMHO. Not trying to be an ass although I'm sure it comes out that way. Just throwing some common reef sense out there.

eventhough the sand and live rock are established you still want to make sure your parameters are spot on.

Daily water tests have shown no variation yet, its been about a week and a half with water and LR and LS, we spent a hour last night looking at the LR upclose and saw about 20 starfish, suuuper small, some this small "O" we're excited. Our flame scallop is enjoying getting fed phytoplankton directly with a baster 2-3 times a day (we love this guy). I certainly hope nothing bad happens, it would be tragic..

the worst thing you can do is add livestock to an uncycled tank. i know your excited to get new stuff but let your tank cycle for a few weeks to make sure. tanks take about a month or so to cycle sometimes showing no changes. better safe then sorry. trust the people on the forums when they are trying to give you advice. most of these people have been in the hobby you many many many years. everyone here is just trying to help you and your fish.

the only thing you can do to help your tank cycle is to let it do its thing. as linkin park once said in their song "time is a valuable thing" .... keep in mind your water changes and tests.

think about the lives you have in your hand. fish might just be fish but there isnt an unlimited number.

Just do a quick test of your water parameters...Ph, alk, etc....

take it slow for sure, dont rush other wise you will make mistakes you will regret, if you take your time and do your research you and your tank will b very happy with each other in the long run, and you wont get frustrated...
