      Ecoxotic 'Stunner" LED strips

So they just came in today and I ripped open the box because I really wanted to try them out.

Both are a 12" long and contain 24 LEDs and are only about a half an inch wide , big plus.
The blue was as expected, comprable to the Current USA power brites but in a much thinner package. They have 3M adhesive strips already on the back so I stuck them on the edge of my T-5 lights. it also comes with some mount hardware. With all of the lights on the blue added that little bit extra that I was looking for, the UV light of course made no difference untill I shut off the daylight lights. The UV acts just like a black light, it makes the green colors literaly glow bright. With having only the UV on (Blue lights and Daylights off) it looked really cool.
These LED lights already have the cords attached on each end to make them linkable, this can be an issue with moisture getting into the plug at the end. The power brites had a rubber cap to plug that connection, so I used black electrical tape to cover that plug. It says you can link up to 6 strips. I watched the manufactures vide of these lights when they had 6 strips linked and it looked like that the last strip on the end was somewhat dimmer. But it only showed that last strip for only a few seconds so I'm not sure about that.
      I do like them though.
The prices were only $45 each with a $19 power supply from Drs Foster smith, I did see them for a dollar cheaper on Amazon. If I remember correctly the power brites were $60 each and one with the power supply was $80 and you couldn't link as many (I think 4 was there max) however I do beleive the power brites used 1 watt LEDs.

      So in a nut shell:
The Plus: long and skinny can mount just about any where
      Cheap and affordable
      Can buy power supply seperately
UV is cool at night or with lights off
Comprable in brightness to Power Brites
Great supplemental light source if you need that little bit extra

The Minus: The last light in your link will have an open power cord connection
and...... I really can't think of anything else.
      So there you have my

Funny, first thing I told them when I saw them is they need a cap to plug that loose end, and they agreed it was an oversight, so they should have that taken care of soon.
I like how compact they are, and really well sealed.

      Pics

Heres a front shot from down low, Blue on the left UV on the right (In case your color blind )
      Attachment 31140

Heres how I have them mounted
      Attachment 31139

Heres the UV shot, Greens are nice and bright, notice how the purple colraline kind of stands out as well on the right
      Attachment 31141

And the blue on my Rics
      Attachment 31142

Just for a reference the lights are 4 inches from the water, the rics were on the bottom about 24 inches from the blue light and the UV shot was about 8 inches from the light.

Cool, thanks, I double checked the little bag just to make sure I didn't miss it and it was not in there.

They do have white LEDS that "appear to be bright enough" might be good enough for a nano or something

Do these actually add the shimmer effect when used as supplemental lighting? And whats the differance between the uv and the blues?

It does but not has much as an MH, I only have one white thats over my clams and I do get a noticable shimmer effect but not near as much as my old MHs, maybe a shallower tank will show more.
