      Dosing Pump

Anyone use a dosing pump (like these) to keep up alkalinity calcium and magnesium levels? I'm thinking of going SPS dominated and think this might be a little easier than dosing two part everyday. What do you think?

Those units are supposedly quite nice... but you have to have a GHL/Profilux controller. So add another 6 Ben Franklins to the dosing unit cost for a Profilux II Beginner package.

So the timer lies in the controller and not the actual pump?
Are there any 2-4 way dosing pumps that have a built in timer? Or do I need to buy 3 medical grade pumps for each additive?
      Thanks for the info

I was looking at these, which aren't out yet. I just got my Bulk Reef Supply dosers hooked up the new tank.

I got some friends who just got those bubble magnus pumps. They seem to like it well so far, and it's hard to beat the pricing. If I wasn't so broke, I'd totally want one as well.

If you have a controller or even just some standard wall timers i'd go for the Bulk Reef Supply Pumps, They are perfect. Ive been running mine to dose 2part for 2 years now.

Go for the 0.24 Ben Franklin Controller.

Ive been using one of those and an aqualifter to dose kalk for about six months.
I have it come on for 1 minute every other hour and then make up any difference manually.
      It works really well.

The Bulk Reef Supply dosers are solid and accurate and you can just hook them up to any timer, good for smaller tanks. I've got two of 'em on my 24 gallon tank and I have quite a bit of SPS in there.
If you have a larger tank I'd go calcium reactor probably...

For kalk, I agree... the AquaLifter works fine. That's exactly what I did, with the AquaLifter being controlled by my Neptune AC3. But for 2-part, the AquaLifter is not really suitable... it lacks the precise & predictable postive-displacement flow of a peristaltic pump, which is needed for metered precision dosing of the Ca & Alk components.... especially so on smaller tanks.

      Been there
No thank you. Too many bad experiences with them getting clogged then unclogged ultimately unleashing a ton of highly concentrated effluent in to the tank. I want to keep this tank simple, so i dose two part, but want it to be a little more automated than pouring it in everyday. With a pump, i think i will be able to finely tune my levels easier than a calcium reactor and get the same affect of it slowly feeding alkalinity calcium and magnesium into the tank over the course of a day. Also, with a doser i don't have to worry about PH as much.

I guess I've never tried a doser so i am very curious.
Thanks for the tips guys and girl! Keep them coming!
