      DIY sump Q's

I picked up a 30g standard acrylic tank off of craigslist. Its 30x12x18, I was planning on cutting the top 2 inches off and throwing a few baffles in and be good to go. The only thing I noticed when I got it home was that the front and back were bowed out. Do you think I will be able to put the baffles in and just squeeze it together and make it work?

might have to cut them to fit good or just jam it with silicone. why are you cutting off 2 inches off the top? dont hit a snag and fracture the acrylic.

cutting the top off to get rid of the bracing so I'l have more access. Already done, came out good. I figured the baffles I put in will give it some more stability.

you need a brace for the top. Even if you put a small 4" strip it should work. When you fill it up with water, baffled or not, it will bow way too much for comfort.
Some day I'll find one tank and stick with it.

      Currently in-between tanks
