      Carbon Fiber Impeller Shafts

For those of you who've broken brittle ceramic shafts, try replacing them with carbon fiber. You can get a three foot length for around ten bucks at most hobby shops.
It's a nice and easy alternative.

On a related note, I have a couple of feet of 4mm CF for $5 if anybody wants it.

Woo! Got a new thing to add to my "***** you can fix with CF" list.
I know lots of folks break their Koralias at the skinny little plastic red stick that extends out of the ball.
I've got two like that. Hard to glue back together because of the size of the stick and the amount of pressure on the joint. Build up of corraline is also a PITA.
Drill out the exact size of your CF rod on the stick and on the ball, and cut a piece of CF to replace the stick.
Glue the crap out of it and you're good to go!

sureflite by ron's sells them for about 3 dollars. The hardest part is cutting a straight edge on them though, as theyre composed of tiny fibers. Probably a job for a very fast moving blade

Definitely. I used a 30,000RPM cutting disc and went very slow. Using a jigsaw with a fine blade pretty much shredded the CF.
