I was also getting ready for work and caught it when I turned on the tv.

I was on a cross country flight today, and watched original footage from New York streaming on Southwest's tv service. Pretty surreal watching it again while in the air. I hadn't watched any of the original footage in the 12 years since.

Couger that sounds about like mine, I was on duty aboard the USS Pioneer in Ingleside, texas. We went on lockdown for four days following the plane strikes. I transfered about a month later and deployed to the middle east.

Underway off the coast of San Diego onboard the USS John C. Stennis for some routine flight deck certifications. Watched everything happen on tv in our shop waiting to start the day. From that point on we stayed at sea and extra three weeks not knowing if we were going on deployment immediately or we would get to come back into SD first.

We did make it back in to San Diego but left on deployment four months ahead of schedule because of 9-11. I'll never forget that day, the images and events that occurred!

      God Bless America!

I was on watch in combat on USS Mobile Bay. i just got off the 12-06 watch and sat down to eat breakfast it was like watching a movie, i couldnt believe that was really happening. then i was called back to combat to start IDing and tracking every air contact near San Diego.

Just got back from a Colors Ceremony commemorating those who lost their lives in 9/11. You can see a representative of each branch that lost lives due to the attack: Police, Firefighters, Medical, Civilian, and each of the Armed Forces. Over 6,700 people. I got pretty teary eyed as they lowered the flag while playing taps.

Crazy that the memory of it is still so fresh after so many years.

I had just graduated from college a few months earlier and hadn't found a job yet. I was in bed when my mom busted in and screamed that we were under attack. I turned on the TV in time to see both towers collapse. I think I watched the footage on TV for more than 24 hours straight.

Every time I see the footage again it takes me right back to that day.
