There was a cool documentary on this a couple years ago called Sharkwater I believe. Definitely recommend it.

Yeah, unfortunately there are still countries out there who don't care about driving species into extinction. It shocks and saddens me that Japan, an otherwise advanced nation, continues to kill thousands of whales every year.

Yeah I don't think it will work either. It would require international compliance. Have you guys see the sushi they have, it's still alive when they eat it. So cruel looking
