so good thing all of us have reefs, we can repopulate the oceans. Does that mean we get tax cuts and free electricity?
i guess it's time for me to go into full force invention mode. question is, time machine, or CO2 remover?
Sucks. Just had a long long arguement with a friend about how global warming-climate change - call it what you want- according to him is a huge hoax. Guess I need to plan an Australian vacation and see it before it is gone.
Don't worry after Obama finishes destroying this country, we won't have to worry about climate change....

Thanks for the post! So perceptive, so well written, based on facts and not just simple opinions. I love it when people actually look at the posts and read the links in them, then comment on them in rational ways that contribute to the conversation. Thanks for adding your amazing insight and well versed witty comments to all of the scientific evidence out there. It is just this kind of addition that contributes to the solution of our many planetary issues. Wish I could write like that. You should get yourself a publicist.

WOW, this really blows. I better hurry and take that vacation too.
lol... after reading that, I can completly understand why that would bring out someone's "man crush" on Obama like that...
This is very upsetting reading that piece just kills me inside. I've loved the ocean and reefs for sometime now and just like the majority of you have not got to see the GBR I guess I have to see it before it goes downhill. One question though for everyone to think about....I wonder if in fact since they know the corals are all going to diminish and become extinct...is it possible that they will take them from their existing environment and try to culture them in some type of aquarium facility strictly dedicated to coral care? Or will they give them to big time expert aquarists to take over? Kind of curious since they know they are gonna die I'm sure they won't just let the corals die as a "role of nature" since the article describes that it took them well over 10 million years to recuperiate from the Peruvian period...just a little food for thought....
